A BROKEN HUMAN JUMPED FROM AN OVERPASS
Yesterday, as I was finishing my workout and was leaving the gym with my pal Valerie, she called me 5 mins later to say she just drove by a man standing on a bridge ledge who wanted to jump onto Route 95 and that a massive police presence was on scene trying to talk him down. After the shock of hearing this I asked if she knew anything about him just by simply passing by slowly as traffic was crawling. Example… did he seem homeless? Drunk or high in some way? Willing to listen? Was he young, old, white, black, Hispanic etc., etc… I wanted to try and understand… I needed to understand this. I wanted information to process this. I felt so so unbelievably sad knowing that another person was suffering so much they believed their only way out was to end it all and jump off a bridge. We both agreed to hang up and immediately pray. Pray for the soul of this person. Pray that if he did jump he had a millisecond of clarity and cried out to Jesus… pray that if he jumped and lived he could tell his story after an incredible comeback and healing. Pray that he would just get off the ledge and go straight to a mental health facility.
After about 5 minutes, I received a text from another friend who had also headed in that direction to that bridge after our workout. She asked me if I had gone that way as it is my usual route home. I said “no, not today, I’m heading to WOONSOCKET”. I told her ” I know what’s happening… did the man jump?” “Yes” she said. I had to pull over. I was so upset. Sick to my stomach upset. I called my friend Val and told her he had jumped. There was silence for a good 30 seconds… I said “hello”… I knew she was distressed. I said “Valerie, let this be a warning. Spiritual warfare is real. Satan prowls around looking for souls to devour. If we do not stay close to God and protect our minds and spirit we are in danger”. I mean what I said, even if you reading this think I’m crazy. I don’t care. I know it’s true. Look at how mental this world is these days. NOTHING MAKES SENSE. LITERALLY. I hope some of you understand what I’m saying. I REALLY DO.
In the end… I don’t know what happened to this man as I don’t know if he lived or died… but he could be any of us. We all struggle… but how we handle the pressure cooker of life determines if we survive or not.
If we know more by the morning when this shows up on the RINEWSTODAY PAGE I’m sure the editor will update this article.

JAWS TURNS 50!!!!!
DAMN if that movie still doesn’t freak me out. If there is ACTUALLY anyone out there who hasn’t seen “JAWS” you just have to put 3 hours aside and take the plunge. The opening scene of the skinny dipper takes up space in my head to this day. I was just a fat, buck-toothed kid when this film came out in 1975 and it was all the rage. People were transfixed and lined up to get a seat in this thriller by STEVEN SPIELBERG that grossed $477 million dollars at the box office off of a $9 million dollar budget. YES, it was a MASSIVE SUCCESS. In TODAY’S dollars 2025 that’s $2,850,163,661.71…. mind blowing.
Thing about “JAWS” is, it literally ruined the beach for me. I never ever enjoyed the ocean again and became terrified of dying inside the mouth of a shark. Seriously… I haven’t gone into the ocean more than twice for over 20 years. Between almost drowning in a rip current in Mexico and always looking over my shoulder IN THE WATER because of a massive GREAT WHITE SHARK bigger than a VW VAN in a movie… the beach experience sucks for me now. I mean… it’s the people too… don’t get me wrong. I find that people GIVE zero $hit$ about others at the beach now. My friend TONY B used to have this hysterical bit he’d post on FB entitled “AM I TOO CLOSE” during the summer months chronicling people with zero self awareness or care of others and their space bubble at the beach. He’d take pics OF THEM and I’d laugh my A$$ off as he lamented how much people drove him bananas and literally sat 1 inch from him when there was plenty of wide open beach available. THEY’D set up volleyball nets… BBQs , umbrellas, blankets and endless coolers. That dude was hilarious… but, then… he and his beach chair moved away. Now we are ONLY left with the memory of “AM I TOO CLOSE”… sigh.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY
FOLKS! WARNING WARNING WARNING !!!! QVC has ALREADY started “CHRISTMAS IN JULY” and it’s still JUNE. THIS is problematic. I know this to be fact BTW because I spend a lot of time over at my mom’s and she likes to watch that channel for whatever reason. Ask me if I almost died when I sauntered in on SATURDAY and saw CHRISTMAS TREES ALL OVER THEIR SETS. TOO SOON I said to Mom, TOO SOON. SHE made me lol when she said ” I know… I wanted to throw up when I turned on my TV this morning”. HAHAHAHAH. EXACTLY MOM.
Honestly, I love CHRISTMAS… I DO! but I can’t… it’s all to soon. It was 105 degrees in my car yesterday, my butt was sweating in my jeans, my upper lip looked like I spent the night hanging out with WHITNEY AND BOBBY IN 2005 and I had a bad bra on which was also soaked. Ya ya… of course I had my AC ON people, but did that matter? NAH. I drive a soft top JEEP. It didn’t matter… trust me. ANYWAY, it’s wayyyy too soon to start even thinking about Christmas. I’m also mentioning this because you’ll see ads about CHRISTMAS in various places. I heard an AD a few weeks ago about CHRISTMAS and how we all should start planning for it now on TV. I choked on my dinner.
While I do look forward to EGGNOG in stores by August 15TH, I’m not ready for HALLOWEEN CANDY just yet, THANKSGIVING OR CHRISTMAS (we will start seeing HALLOWEEN on shelves next week) When did we start hurrying life along like this at such a break neck pace? Has it always been like this? I really don’t think so… but hell, I can’t remember what I had for lunch 2 days ago… so, what do I know…
That’s all I got this week gang…”IT IS WHAT IT IS”

Jaws, i just bought a BD so I could have a copy. I am friends with some folks who aided in the making of the film. Scott Brown is a good pol. Good stuff in your posts once again, and keep on “splittin them Atoms”.
I have never seen JAWS nor do I care to see it. Like the music but don’t care to see weird movie.

I was very pregnant with my first son when Jaws came out….thought I was going to have him right there in that theater, I was SO freaked out!!
My best friend has lived across the street from the beach in FL for about 50 years, and I have YET to go in the water. Just can’t relax and enjoy the ocean anymore!
