Angelo Garcia, Founder and Head of District at the Segue Institute for Learning and Legacy High School, has been appointed by acclaimed actors and advocates Viola Davis and Julius Tennon as Chair of their newly established Davis/Tennon Foundation.

First announced at Segue’s 15th anniversary celebration, the Foundation was introduced during the milestone event with Davis and Tennon present to share their mission of empowering local communities. The foundation was established to foster connections between individuals and community-based organizations across Rhode Island to address critical social issues.

The Foundation has committed to focusing its annual support, projected to reach nearly $1 million, on initiatives that uplift Rhode Islanders by empowering women, preventing domestic violence, enhancing after-school opportunities for students, and addressing housing challenges faced by families.

The announcement marks a substantial investment in the local community, with a vision of driving change through strategic partnerships and support.

“I am deeply honored to lead this significant effort alongside my work at Segue,” Garcia said. “Viola and Julius’s commitment to Central Falls and the Blackstone Valley has always been steadfast, and I am grateful for their trust in me to help bring their vision for a stronger, more connected Rhode Island to life.”

The Davis/Tennon Foundation’s soft launch announcement was a highlight of Segue Institute for Learning’s 15th anniversary gala, where Davis and Tennon joined in celebrating the school’s impactful work. Through its targeted initiatives, the Foundation will connect local organizations and individuals in building a brighter, safer future for Rhode Island families.
