MAE Organization for the Homeless: “Be the Light” Gala to support expanding services

Mae Organization “Be the Light” Gala: A Night to Remember in Support of Expanding Services

On Saturday, November 9th, the Mae Organization for the Homeless will host its highly anticipated black-tie gala at the Crowne Plaza, bringing the community together to raise funds for vital programs. This year’s event, themed “Winter Wonderland,” aims to support the organization’s expansion efforts, including securing a larger space to house their services, pantry, and transitional apartments for families in need.

Sponsors will enjoy an exclusive VIP cocktail time starting 30 minutes earlier, with hors d’oeuvres prepared by Chef Terranova. Following this, all guests will join for the general cocktail hour, which will include a wine tasting by MS Walker. The night will feature live entertainment, including performances by Dr. Slick, Rhode Island Ballet, and dancer Muneeza Nasrullah.

“Having a dedicated building would be transformative for the people we serve,” said Martinha Javid, Mae Organization’s founder. “It will allow us to store more supplies, offer more comprehensive programs, and provide short-term housing options for families as they transition to stability.”

In addition to dinner, the gala will offer exciting auctions, a chance to mingle with local celebrities, and a lively dance floor. The gala is set to be the organization’s biggest fundraising event of the year, with the hopes that community members will continue to rally behind their mission.

Past galas have been marked by heartwarming moments, with guests leaving inspired by the organization’s dedication to making a tangible difference in people’s lives. Photos from previous years capture the spirit of the event.

With proceeds also supporting Mae Organization’s Basic Needs Program, which provides over 34,000 meals annually and assists with housing transitions, this event is critical to sustaining and expanding their “boots on the ground” work.
