Gimme’ Shelter: Addy at Providence Animal Control Center

Hello out there – my name is Addy and I came to PAC as an owner surrender. It wasn’t fault, my humans could no longer care for me. I am a very sweet girl who can be a little timid at first. My kennel presence is not so appealing because the barrier just frustrates me. However, once outside I reveal my true self, and I’m all smiles as I seek out pets and greet everyone with numerous kisses and hugs.

I know basic commands and will sit and give paw for treats. I can be a bit nervous in general with the new environments, especially with loud sounds. Speaking of loud sounds, did you know there is a train that passes by PAC?! That train noise startles me to the point I freeze as my heart is racing and my legs are shaking! This one time I was in the play yard the train came by blowing its horn the whole time, I just tucked in my tail and ran to other side of the play yard, I wanted to go back inside.

My ideal home is one that is not so loud – without a train passing by all the time! I would like a family to call my own with children over the age of 12 please, I may even like a dog friend but we have to meet first to see how we get along. I am looking forward to someone taking me home and just loving me forever.

The Providence Animal Control Division protects the health and safety of our residents and their pets with progressive leadership and education, and continues to engage the hearts and minds of the community to help all animals.

As of November 2015, the Animal Control Division has adopted a “low risk euthanasia” philosophy of healthy adoptable animals and will continue to improve the live release rate of shelter animals via adoptions, returning strays to their owners, transferring animals to rescues, TNR, programs/services and treating medical cases. We believe that with progressive programs, we can have a more humane City. Through our Gimme Shelter program, PAC is spaying and neutering owned and feral cats for Providence residents.
