National Chess Day event with the Southeast New England Chess Association
National Chess Day has been celebrated in this country since the 1970’s. It is recognized on the second Saturday of October to give attention to the joys and benefits of the game of chess.
Local recognition by the Southeast New England Chess Association will take place on Saturday, October 14th from 9:30am to 1:30pm with a tournament to be held at the Quest Montessori School campus in Narragansett.
The special youth chess event at Quest is for all children from grades K through 12. A tournament starts the day off from 9:30am to 1:30pm. Free pizza will be provided for the players and a select number of players will then participate in a simultaneous exhibition as they all square off against National Chess master Dave Ouellette.

2nd National Chess Day Scholastic Tournament and Simul
October 14 @ 9:30 am – 1:30 pm (tournament) and simul 2pm-5pm

SENECA and RI CHESS SCHOOL, along with National Master Dave Ouellette, have joined forces to create the perfect scholastic chess celebration of NATIONAL CHESS DAY.
The first 25 who check in for the tournament will have the opportunity to also play in the simul at no extra cost.
A 4 round scholastic chess event for players in grades K-12. There will be four sections: OPEN, U700, UNRATED, NOVICE (OPEN and U700 require USCF membership).
