RI Weather Today, Monday, March 23, 2020
Monday 3/23/20:
By Jack Donnelly, meteorologist
A low pressure system will move to the northeast and begin tapping into the cool air and upper level energy already over our area and generate mostly rain for us, but some areas of wet snow as well, mainly in the northwestern highlands of the state, accumulating up to an inch or so. The stacked low column will pass quite close to the coast, so rain may be a bit heavy at times around the evening hours between dinner and midnight. Chilly raw and blustery breezes out of the southeast will only add to the misery, drawing heat away from those venturing outside. We’re expecting morning lows within a couple of degrees of the freezing mark, and afternoon highs struggling to make it into the low 40’s.
