In the Arena: Carol Ventura, RI Housing
Each week Joe Paolino Jr. interviews leaders in Rhode Island – today he interviews Carol Ventura, the Executive Director of Rhode Island Housing.
Paolino asks why is it that we have such a housing crisis when our population hasn’t significantly changed over many years. Ventura mentions that this is a much more public issue than ever before, and that RI is last in the creation of new housing in the country.
Listen to their discussion on the future of housing in Rhode Island…
Be sure to watch In the Arena every Sunday at 7am on ABC6
It is my understanding that the First Gen program has some exclusions for where you currently live, even if you would like to purchase a home in the approved areas. Therefore, if you meet all the income requirements, as well as being a first generation homebuyer, BUT you happen to rent in the zip code 02906 (as a rental because maybe you are a nurse and work at one of the area hospitals), you would not qualify because your current address is 02906. This does not make sense and is exclusionary (for a program that was created to be inclusionary). Please confirm that my understanding is correct. Thank you.
We’ll post this but I would go to RI Housing – https://www.rihousing.com/firstgenhomeri/ – to confirm details…
