“Salute of Roses” stunning beauty and winners of the 24th Annual Rose Show
The 24th Annual Rose Show was held on Saturday, June 10th, from 1 – 3 p.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Church, in Hope.
Pauline DeRosa, of Cranston, provided RINewsToday with a report on the event, attended by hundreds who had interest in roses, wanted to vote on winners in various categories, grow roses and show roses. DeRosa said, “My father was a sergeant in the United States Army during the Second World War and stationed at a RAF Military Base in England in 1944-1945. As a member of the Rhode Island Rose Society, it was my obligation to submit a rose arrangement in Class 37, ‘Salute the Military’ in honor of my father as well as all those who made sacrifices to defend our Country.
This will be the fifth year I have been a member of the Rhode Island Rose Society and i began with one rose bush in 2019. Currently I tend to eighteen rose bushes in my yard; a small number compared to members who have more than a hundred plants. Working on my roses has become a way to ward off anxiety and stress – I find it to be relaxing and the results are so rewarding! I recommend everyone try their hand at growing roses, even if it is only one plant to start with. But I warn you – one plant will never be enough!”

All the winners!
I drove 100 miles to buy a rosebush that was not available anywhere in RI. The rose is called Double Delight and is the most beautiful, most fragrant Rose I’ve ever owned. It’s too bad images are not accommodated here, because the rose is a stunner.
