Rhode Island Weekend Weather, May 20/21, 2023 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteorologist
Saturday 5/20/23:
Low pressure from the southwest teams up with a cold front from the west to provide us the awesomeness of rain from 9am until 5am Sunday, heavy at times during the afternoon and evening. Southeasterly winds gusting to 30 mph with a high in the low 60’s follow a morning low in the low 50’s.
It’s a “D” day!
Sunday 5/21/23:

Rain drivers clear out of town, with overcast skies gradually opening up to partly cloudy by mid afternoon. A light west-northwesterly breeze dries things out, allowing for an afternoon high in the low 70’s and lows in the upper 50’s.
It’s a “B” day!

John Donnelly was born in Hialeah, Florida and moved back to Rhode Island and settled in Johnston, where he grew up until graduating from Lyndon State College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. As a child John always wanted to know how air moved, and he ran towards, not away from, thunder and lighting and various other ominous weather phenomena. He returned in 2001 to the old family neighborhood of Elmhurst.
