“Ron & Jen’s Great Escape” now on WHJJ Radio
There’s a new Saturday radio show that proves not all talk radio has to be combative and super serious to reach its audience. Ron St. Pierre and Jen Brien think there’s plenty of room for a more lighthearted approach to a wider array of topics outside politics and that’s what their radio show, “Ron & Jen’s Great Escape”, is all about.
After 10 months doing a 2-hour show on Newport’s WADK Friday afternoons, Ron & Jen’s Great Escape has moved to IHEART MEDIA’S NewsRadio 920 WHJJ and 104-7 FM Saturday mornings at 7.
The show, according to Brien, “is a chance to remember when we had fun listening to the radio at home or in the car. We don’t want to stress you out. We talk about things that hopefully make you laugh and help you escape the intensity of the work week and the challenges we all face in our day to day lives.”
When the pandemic first started, Brien contacted St. Pierre and suggested they come up with something to get people’s minds of the daily dire straits, so they began a podcast. The podcast evolved into an additional radio show.
St. Pierre and Brien certainly know a little bit about talk radio, Brien’s been in the business over 20 years, and St. Pierre over 40. They’ve worked together co-hosting morning shows on both WPRO and WHJJ and have honed a strong on-air chemistry. “We’re not afraid to be real with each other” says Brien. We listen to each other even if we disagree. People you really like are hard to find and we genuinely like each other.” St. Pierre and Brien have been friends for over 20 years. “When she zigs, I zag, and vice versa” says St. Pierre. “Jen has a great sense of what people are thinking and creates a great Trip Tik for our shows. We’re both conversationalists and love what we do.”

So excite to hear you!!!
Long-John Nebel was our first experience with talk radio antics in the 60’s from NYC AM channels.
He was a madman. Did his research, but yelled at callers & guests alike. I saw him on YouTube recently and he was relating a story about having cancer (between puffs on a cigarette!)
