Ron & Jen’s Great Escape – Feb. 15, 2023 – Ron St. Pierre and Jen Brien
by Ron St. Pierre & Jen Brien, contributing writers, commentary
To TIP or NOT to TIP…That is the question!
There’s a lot of hullabaloo lately about who to tip, why and when. Here are MY general rules on TIPPING – WHO AND WHY (2023 edition)
YOU GET A TIP IF:
* You’re polite and make eye contact
* You acknowledge my presence and are polite
* You get my order right
* You are polite but get my order wrong
* You make eye contact, but get my order wrong
* You don’t make eye contact, get my order wrong, but are polite
* You fix my order if you get it wrong, without blame shifting or gaslighting me
* You fix my order if you get it wrong and are polite to me
* You are polite, make eye contact, and get my order CORRECT (BONUS CASH FOR THIS ONE)
* You don’t smell like weed
YOU DON’T GET A TIP IF:
* You hate your life and me and make that abundantly clear
* You get my order wrong and have attitude about it
* You have zero people skills and find me repulsive if I smile at you
* You are on your phone texting while taking my order
* You smell like weed
* You expect it, for simply showing up
Finally, if you keep my change without asking if I want it back, you just lost a customer.
The TIP(S) I really want to give people today are:
You’re entitled to nothing
Life isn’t fair
You’re not a victim
Winners are like it.
Losers act like it.
“A smile will go a long, long way”
Till next week my friends – Jen

KEEP AN EYE ON THE SKY
With a rather perplexing series of incidents involving the shooting down of three unidentified flying objects, the White House has announced its intention to establish a team tasked with examining the airborne objects and the possible security and safety risks they pose. With so little info coming from the Biden administration regarding the objects, imaginations are running rampant. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre says there’s no indication the objects have something to do with aliens. That comment came hot on the heels of the commander of NORAD COMMAND saying he wouldn’t rule out ANY possibility regarding the objects, including extraterrestrial origins. Let’s just hope if they are products of strange visitors from another planet, they’re more in line with Speilberg’s ET and not those travelers in INDEPENDENCE DAY.

CRASHING THE BOOTH
FOX Super Bowl broadcast team of Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen got strong reviews for their initial BIG GAME broadcast. Olsen’s analysis got a particularly strong critique. One has to wonder if Fox is having buyer’s remorse on the ten year $375 million dollar deal it gave to Tom Brady.

THE “BLOND BOMBER” BOMBS
FOX broadcaster Terry Bradshaw’s catching some heat for what some say was his “fat shaming” of Kansas City Head Coach Andy Reid. During the post game interview, Bradshaw called Reid over saying “let me get the big guy in here… come on, waddle on over here, and have a cheeseburger on us.” Casual football viewers may not be aware of Reid’s self admitted penchant for cheeseburgers and Bradshaw’s reputation for being a “regular guy” and not giving a rat’s patoots about political correctness. Still, the Twitterverse had its say, calling for FOX to fire or suspend Bradshaw.

What is wrong with people’s sense of humor today, about Bradshaw’s comments. Get a life you fault finding folks, unless of course, you all are working on the San Andreas’.
