Super Bowl “Extras”
For those who may be less than riveted by this year’s SuperBowl – probably all of the New England Patriots fans, here are some items to keep your interest strong. And maybe you’ll enjoy the game as well.
The SuperBowl Ads
The SuperBowl ads will get all our attention. At $5.6 million for 30 seconds of ad time in the game, companies have invested for your attention – funny, poignant, odd, or compelling, we’ll be watching.
On the political front both presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg and President Trump will have commercials featured. Both, completely different. And probably more than one each. Here’s one for each that we’ll see:
President Trump’s ad
President Trump will also be interviewed just before the Super Bowl by Sean Hannity on the Fox Network, at 3:30pm.
Presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg ad:
Gronk Beach
From 1 to 7pm, the place to be in Miami will be at Gronk Beach Big Game Weekend. From dancing on the beach, to activities for families, and more, Gronkowski has big plans – and even has said this is his first time “on the beach” in Miami for a SuperBowl party.
All details, here: https://gronkbeach.com/
Lots of folks in attendance at the Gronk party, including New England Patriots Bill Belichick…a little different role for him this year…
Puppy Bowl!
Puppy Bowl XVI airs at 3 p.m. EST, sponsord by Pedigree, you can see all 42 entries, here – http://www.animalplanet.com/puppy-bowl-xvi-starting-lineup/
In Rhode Island...
AND! There are two dogs from the East Greenwich Animal Protection League participating in this year’s lineup, a pitbull named Eli, and a terrier mix named Sebastian.
The organization will hold a watch party from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at their 44 Worthington Rd. shelter in Cranston. Tickets cost $5 per person and can be purchased at the door. A mini “football field” will be set up for all the shelter’s adoptable puppies to have a game of their own.
For more information about the event or the shelter, call 401-467-3670.
Ladies Night!
When the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers take the field on Sunday, new ground will be broken with this year’s Super Bowl being the first to feature two teams with women owners.
Halftime
Headlining Super Bowl LIV half time will be the dynamic female duo of Jennifer Lopes (J Lo) and Shakira…here they talk about the honor or being selected, and of performing together as Latina women. They will lead many other entertainers, including reggaeton superstars J Balvin and Bad Bunny – plus J-Lo’s 11-year-old daughter Emme.
FOOD
Super Bowl Sunday is the second largest food consumption day of the year in the U.S. (behind Thanksgiving). From chicken wings (1.4 billion!) to nachos to pizza and all kinds of dips, enjoy it all – remember hot foods should be hot and cold foods should be cold so don’t put all the food out at once and let it sit there for three hours.
Restaurants will be gearing up to take your orders. Where do we get out chicken wings? 99 Restaurants – and don’t forget the extra blue cheese dipping sauce!
Enjoy it all with family friends…
