Can you see me now? Legislators, office holders, police & firefighters behind tinted glass
Representative Anastasia Williams of Providence wants to protect her fellow legislators – and some other public servants, too.
In her amendment legislation, Rep. Williams is proposing to amend the “Nontransparent Windshields and Windows” Act, which makes it illegal to have window applications which transmit less than 70% visible light, along with other regulations as defined in the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
Her amendment wording reads as follows:
“Any privately owned motor vehicle which is owned by an individual who is employed as a municipal or state police officer, firefighter, judge of a state court, or any elected member of the Rhode Island general assembly.”
The amendment is co-sponsored by Rep. John J. Lombardi (D, District 8, Prov), Rep. Camille F. J. Vella-Wilkinson (D – District 21, Warwick), Rep. Liana M. Cassar (D – District 66, Barrington, East Providence), and Rep. Joseph S. Almeida (D – District 12, Providence).
