RI Fish and Game Protective Association supports West Greenwich
By Jeff Gross, contributing writer
For years now the Rhode Island Fish and Game Protective Association holds fund raisers prior to Thanksgiving and Christmas. The fundraiser before Thanksgiving raises money to benefit the West Greenwich Public Library. The funds raised provide for new books, items for “Story Time” and Reading Classes, as well as providing funds for the always necessary building maintenance.
Homeowners can relate to the latter. The Christmas fundraising goes to the Town of West Greenwich. West Greenwich then uses the donation to purchase gift baskets for the residents in need. This donation is a separate donation above and beyond the Troop Thanksgiving baskets that RIFGPA donates as well. The Town of West Greenwich purchases Christmas food items as well as gifts to place in the baskets for the folks in town that can use the help.
RIFGPA has a Junior Membership program where children under the age of 18 are encouraged with the help of a club sponsor to join. Children are taught the aspects of Hunting, Fishing, the Second Amendment, Conservation and other Environmental Sciences. The child’s age often determines what parts of the club the youngster gets involved in.
RIFGPA is very fortunate to have Lyndsay Lombari, daughter of Michael and Diane Lombari involved. Lyndsay is the group’s most junior member. One of Lyndsay’s functions is to serve as “Ambassador of Goodwill”.
Lyndsay can be seen here donating the November fundraising check to the Town of West Greenwich Louttit Library. With Lyndsay holding such an honorable position at RIFGPA, we have high hopes for the future.
