I WAS A WHITE HOT MESS

When I look back on my life, or when I’ve been asked to give my testimony, one of the things I have always said – is that my life had become a chaotic hot mess of a thing. I literally came to the end of myself. I tried and tried and TRIED to get it right, just free-styling it daily hoping I’d be ok. No anchor. No foundation. Just a lot of pain from military sexual trauma, deep sadness, and a sense of unworthiness. I was dirty. Damaged goods. 

That is a lie – and it’s just insanely sad I used to believe that, 100%. Some of you reading this today may be fully aware of what I mean. Some of you probably think I’m nuts, or a has-been, or maybe you think I’m full of crap. Honestly, I could care less. 

What I want to do is reach someone open. Tired. Searching. Battling self. 

My message this week, HOLY WEEK, is that there is a friend, a father, a healer, a counselor within reach. There is a love you’ve never known. There’s a place where you can be your most authentic self and not fear rejection. There’s a beating heart for YOU in this crazy world. This love, this hope I have found is why I live now. Why I keep fighting and praying and try. I was ready to die. I wanted to die. But God said grab my hand, Jennifer, your life is valuable and I have more for you. In my desperation I reached back. God resurrected my life. He can do this for you.

FAVES AND LEAST FAVES

Growing up, Ron’s annual Easter candy his parents treated him to was a large Fanny Farmer chocolate covered vanilla egg with a yellow center meant to be a yolk. Remember Fanny Farmer? Robin eggs with the malted centers were Ron’s second favorite. Least fave?  JELLY BEANS! Jen’s fave was ANYTHING White Chocolate while her least fave was any kind of crunchy chocolate. Jen’s right… chocolate shouldn’t crunch at Easter.

According to Forbes (Forbes?) Reese’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Eggs are the favorites in RI which are really just peanut butter cups in a different shape.

PEEPS

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, Peeps have been an Easter candy staple for a long, long time.

Classic Peeps are marshmallow candy made of a simple mixture of sugar, corn syrup, and gelatin. They include a few other ingredients, such as preservatives and food coloring, but each Peep is essentially a colorful, chick-shaped marshmallow treat – with wax eyes. Specialty products and particular colors may contain additional ingredients, but that’s nearly the full story.

A single serving of five chicks comes to 140 calories. According to Just Born, they contain no fat but a whopping 30 grams of sugar—60% of the daily value for people on a 2,000-calorie daily diet.

Ron’s tip on how an ADULT should enjoy Peeps:

– Punch several holes into the cellophane of a 5 pack

– Allow the PEEPS to get a tad stale (3 days usually does the trick)

– Dip the PEEPS (head first) in the aperitif of your choice

– Enjoy

It’s a little play off Col. Potter’s favorite in MASH… Fig Newtons and scotch!

MORE BELT TIGHTENING

Numbers out this week show the consumer price index jumped to 8.5% in March. Analysts had predicted an 8.3% increase over the last 12 months. March’s sky high rate is the highest since 1981 when Jimmy Carter ruled the roost.
