The Galleries of the historic Providence Art Club are excited to announce the organization’s second College Scholarship Exhibition. The show, which will run February 13 – March 4 in the Club’s Dodge House Gallery, will feature 28 artworks in a range of media created by undergraduate students at local colleges and universities. Three top award-winning works will also be selected, with one student receiving a future solo exhibition at the Art Club. The exhibition is a great opportunity to explore exciting works by talented young artists.
The Art Club’s College Exhibition was open to applicants from any college in Rhode Island and the final artworks were juried by Art Club Gallery Manager Michael Rose. Works on view will include pieces created by students at Brown, RISD, Rhode Island College, Community College of Rhode Island, Providence College, Salve Regina University, Roger Williams University, and the University of Rhode Island. The show will include paintings, prints, photographs, as well as three-dimensional and mixed media works by current sophomores and juniors.
Of the exhibition, Rose says, “We are thrilled to share this wide-ranging collection of artworks by talented emerging artists in Dodge House Gallery. This show is a testament to how much talent can be found in the studios of college students throughout the state.”
This is the second time the Club has hosted a College Scholarship Exhibition. The first show took place in 2019, and RISD student Connor Gewirtz received top honors and participated in a solo exhibition at the Club in 2020. The show is made possible with generous funding from the Glucksman Family and enables the historic Art Club to engage with a new generation of artists. For many participants, this show will be their first professional exhibition.
