Pawtucket 2020 schedule for free disposal of residents’ mattresses, box springs, e-waste
Mayor Donald R. Grebien announced that the City of Pawtucket in partnership with MTG Disposal, its trash and recycling vendor, will continue to provide an added service to Pawtucket residents seeking to get rid of old electronics, as well as mattresses and box springs. The mattress and e-waste drop off will occur on the first Saturday of each month in the parking lot across from City Hall on Roosevelt Avenue between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
On the first Saturday of each month, residents will be able to drop off up to two (2) sets of mattresses or box springs, or up to four (4) pieces total will be accepted with proof of residency. They will also accept one (1) television per household & old electronic devices known as e-waste. Furniture or any other household items will not be accepted.
“We are pleased to provide this added service for our residents and neighbors,” said Mayor Grebien. “Customer service is a top priority of my administration, and providing this added convenience for everyone in Pawtucket is another way for us to better serve the residents and taxpayers of our great city. The members of the City Council and I remain committed to improving services in cost-effective ways.”
The addition of this monthly drop off location provides residents another option to dispose of these items at their convenience and free of charge. Residents may also dispose of these items at the transfer station during normal operating hours. This added service for residents was part of a suite of contract amendments the City negotiated with the vendor that added services for the residents and saved taxpayers on the annual cost of the contract with the vendor.
