Snow Shoveling Assistance program for Central Falls and Pawtucket seniors in need

In an email blast of Central Falls’ Mayor Maria Rivera, sign up for the Winter Snow Shoveling Assistance Program for Seniors encouraging people – both seniors and youth willing to help – to contact their Department of Parks and Recreation.

Rivera said, “Despite the mild stretch of weather we’re experiencing, winter is officially approaching! I want to remind all CF property owners about the importance of clearing their sidewalks in front of their home/business after any snowstorm.

It’s required, and our students, walkers, and seniors thank you!

We know many of our older residents face a burden when it comes to shoveling snow off their sidewalks and pathways. As a part of our youth employment initiatives, we are offering our Winter Snow Shoveling Assistance Program for our Central Falls seniors. 

Those over 60 who anticipate needing assistance are encouraged to get on the list – now – not when there is a snowstorm and youth interested are also encouraged to get in touch.

Pawtucket: Pawtucket’s Youth-to-Senior Shoveling Program is also accepting requests from seniors to be placed on the list to be matched with a snow-shoveling volunteer for this winter.

“We are excited to have this program for another year here in our city,” said Mayor Donald Grebien. “With the constituent liaison working on this project now as well, we hope to pair up willing students with seniors in need of assistance and mitigate any harmful situations that can come from shoveling during the winter months. I would also like to thank the students who give their time to assist their community and show leadership through service.”
