RI Weekend Weather Wrap, Sept. 18/19, 2021 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteorologist
Saturday 9/18/21:
Odette is now a fully operational Tropical Storm in the Atlantic, following the course of the Gulf Stream and is forecast to continue on an east-northeastward track into the open waters. What we’ll get out of it is some surf and low clouds with drizzle during the morning. We’ll then get some breakup of the cloud cover in the afternoon before a cold front drops and gives us the chance for light overnight rain into early Sunday morning. Muggy low temps in the upper 60’s rise to the upper 70’s with a light breeze, heating held back by earlier extensive cloud cover.
Sunday 9/19/21:

A weak cold front drops in overnight and squeezes out a few drops of rain before sunrise. Gradual clearing thereafter as high pressure begins to fill in the void. An afternoon high in the mid to upper 70’s accompanies the clearing skies, setting up a chilly evening low around 60 with a decent northerly breeze gusting towards 30 mph.
