Tonight: Cranston candlelight vigil to honor those lost to COVID-19
Mayor Kenneth Hopkins and the Cranston City Council will hold a candlelight vigil in honor of those lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The vigil will take place at Cranston City Hall, 869 Park Avenue in Cranston TONIGHT, Wednesday, March 31st at 6:30pm.
Scheduled to participate in the services are:
Mayor Kenneth J. Hopkins, Councilors Jessica Marino, Robert Ferri, Nicole Renzulli, Lammis Vargas, Aniece Germain, John Donegan, Edward Brady, Christopher Paplauskas, Matthew Reilly and community faith leaders.
In the city’s announcement of the event, they said, “Although vaccination rollout in our City gives us a breadth of hope, we can’t forget the many lives lost due to COVID-19. In Cranston alone, more than 130 lives have been lost. While we know those lives lost leave a hole in the hearts of loved ones, family members and surrounding community, we hope this event offers a farewell opportunity by lighting a candle in honor of our neighbors in Cranston.
The community is invited.
Masks will be required and social distancing observed.
Why was this not promoted via the city webpage, I would have attended since my mom died of covid19 and she lived in Cranston.
It would have been great to attend but more promotion should have been done.
