RI Weather Today – Mon, Feb. 1, 2021
by Jack Donnelly, meteorologist
Winter storm rolls on through with wet snow beginning around 6am and picking up steam around noon as northeasterly winds kick in and gust into the 40+ mph range through the remainder of the afternoon. Low snow to water ratio will only allow for 3-6 inches in the Providence area, but will still dump a generous helping in the elevated arc from Hopkinton to Woonsocket, upwards of a foot or slightly more. Warmth from the northward trajectory of the system will affect a change from snow to rain by 8pm and continue through Monday night. Highs in the mid 30’s from morning lows in the low 20’s.
