New Urgent Care Center – “where Benny’s used to be”
Lifespan Urgent Care Opens in Providence
The third Lifespan Urgent Care location opens on Branch Avenue at the site of the former Benny’s
The New Year has brought the opening of a new Lifespan Urgent Care at an iconic location in Rhode Island’s largest city — where the Benny’s used to be.
The new location at 66 Branch Ave. right off Interstate 95, is the third Lifespan Urgent Care to open in Rhode Island in the past year and a half. Now people who live and work in the greater Providence area, and who have come to trust and rely upon Lifespan to deliver health with care, will be able to access the same high-quality medical care for minor illnesses and injuries – both quickly and conveniently.
“I am excited to announce the third Lifespan Urgent Care location, demonstrating our continuing commitment to providing timely, affordable and expert medical care to Rhode Islanders close to where they live and work. We are honored to be your neighborhood Urgent Care and look forward to helping Providence area families, patients, and employees get the great care they deserve,” said Bobby Hingorani, Director of Urgent Care Operations for Lifespan Physician Group. “We are a state-of-the-art facility with the ability to perform minor procedures and X-ray. Our well-trained medical staff believes strongly in the importance of working with fellow community health providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. When necessary our Providence team can help refer patients within the broader health care system, including referrals to specialists and hospitals.”
Lifespan Urgent Care opened the first location in September 2019 in Warwick (17 Airport Rd., at Hoxsie Four Corners) and the second location in November 2019 in Middletown (1360 West Main Rd., in the Stop & Shop plaza).
Visiting a Lifespan Urgent Care, a program of Lifespan Physician Group, has the added benefit of seamless access to a patient’s electronic medical records on the MyLifespan patient portal as well as to Lifespan emergency services and specialists if needed.
Patients who need to visit Lifespan Urgent Care have three convenient ways to do so. They can just walk in, they can register online and reserve a time slot for a face-to-face appointment, or for patients with certain conditions, video visits are available.
The Lifespan Urgent Care location in Providence provides treatment for adults and children 18 months and older for the following:
- Colds and flu
- Earaches and sinus infections
- Fractures and sprains
- Animal bites
- Cuts
- Stomach upset and diarrhea
- Burns
- Insect bites
- Urinary tract infections
Flu and tetanus vaccinations are also available.
The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, and some holidays (closed New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.)
All Lifespan Urgent Care facilities are under the supervision of medical director Olivier Gherardi, D.O., a long-time Rhode Island resident.
“Lifespan Urgent Care is a safe, cost-effective alternative when you are seeking quick and convenient treatment for a variety of minor injuries and illnesses and our staff of experienced medical professionals provides outstanding care,” Gherardi said.
