95th annual Greek Festival, Assumption Greek Church in Pawtucket
A not-to-miss event is set for the weekend of August 19th to 21st at the Assumption Greek Church in Pawtucket, when they will hold the 95th annual Greek Festival, 3 days of Greek food, music, and dance.
Hours are Friday, 5-9; Saturday, noon to 10pm; Sunday, noon to 9pm.
With a tradition (and reputation) for serving outstanding Greek Food to thousands of hungry attendees, the community joined together, with strict guidelines for all the cooking & baking, to host the 95th annual Greek Festival on the grounds of the Assumption Greek Church, 97 Walcott Street in Pawtucket.
Events are held both indoors and outdoors, following all appropriate COVID guidance.
Food features are roasted lamb, pork souvlaki and chicken souvlaki dinners, pastichio, moussaka, spanakopita, and more. The pastry booth has classic favorite homemade desserts such as baklava, galactobouriko, rice pudding, almond rolls, and more, and of course, their famous baklava cheesecake.
The Kafenio (café) will serve traditional hot and cold Greek coffees, and the bar will be serving favorite Greek beers, wines, and spirits.
It will be a weekend filled with music, food, dance, vendors, and most of all Greek “Philoxenia” – Greek Hospitality.
Featuring folk dance performances by Elliniki Yperiphania=Greek Pride of RI with special performances Friday at 7pm and Saturday and Sunday both at 4pm and 7pm.
Church tours will be given on Saturday and Sunday at 2pm and 5pm.
Baking Demonstrations are set for Saturday & Sunday 3pm & 6pm
Love the sound of Greek music? Fotia.live Greek Orchestra will be playing Saturday and Sunday night.
Free parking with shuttle service will be available across from Pawtucket City Hall. The event will be held rain or shine, with tents outdoors. Free admission.
Vendors will be set up indoors and outdoors with Greek art, jewelry, and gift items.
The menu of foods offered at the Greek Festival come from generations of family recipes for meals and pastries.
