10th annual Festivus Report: Funny. Not funny. How the government uses our money.
This marks Dr. Rand Paul’s tenth edition of the Festivus Report as he continues working to alert the American people to how their federal government uses their hard-earned money, in some of the most obtuse ways.
This humorous look at how our government spends money will certainly give you dinner conversation and taken in all seriousness will give you angst for decreasing the amount of “our” money spent by “our” government. With the promised look at how the US is bloated with expenditures, the report stands as a summary of low-hanging fruit on what to start with.
Some of the highlights include:
- National Endowment for the Arts funding ice-skating drag queens and promoting city park circuses.
- Department of the Interior invested in the construction of a brand new $12 million Las Vegas Pickleball complex.
- DOI also allocated $720,479 to wetland conservation projects for ducks in Mexico.
- Department of State is featured eleven times, with expenditures including –
- $4.8 million on Ukrainian influencers
- $32,596 on breakdancing
- $2.1 million for Paraguayan Border Security
- $3 Million for ‘Girl-Centered Climate Action’ in Brazi
- and much more!
One we found that’s already in the planning is $25 Million to build underpass “bridges” for the endangered Red Wolf to get from one side of the road to the other, avoiding dangerous highways. Where is this? North Carolina. The state with so much human need after floods devastated thousands still living in tents and with little or no funding. Now there’s nothing funny here.
How about $10 Million to study constipation – in cats?
